Hurricane Ridge
(on the Olympic Peninsula)...

You are in: Seattle -> The Sights -> Hurricane Ridge

Hurricane Ridge is about an hour's drive west from Bainbridge Island - its in the rain forest on the Olympic Peninsula. Pretty damned spectacular it is too...
Here's just a few "mountain" shots. Armed with a digital camera I took about a zillion photographs, but really one mountain looks pretty much like another after the fiftieth photo...

See what I mean... Its fantastic when you're up there, but its really hard to take photographs and make it look like it looked when you were there.

Anyway - having looked round at the fabulous mountains near the luxury of the visitor's centre that is there, Dave, Tony and Ann went up the ridge proper. That's three miles of tough hike up steep hills. Conveniently there is a tarmac'd path, which kind of spoils the adventure, but is very welcome as you get higher. Its a bit higher than Ben Nevis up there you know...

Tony and Ann (I was the photographer) - the intrepid explorer's of Hurricane Ridge. You'll note that super-fit Tony is looking relaxed, but Ann was dressed for serious hiking. It was three miles after all.
It took a while, but we reached the top. Here's Tony and me at the top...

On the way back down the ridge path we saw a chipmunk... Cute isn't he (she?) They are supposed to be wild, but this one just kind of hung out near us hoping we'd feed it despite all the notices saying "Do not feed the wildlife".

This is a panorama taken from the top of the ridge - my camera has this cunning "photo stitch" software that allows one to do this kind of thing shockingly easily!

You'll need to scroll waaaayyy to the right to see all of it!
