Holiday in Mexico...!

You are in: TimeLine -> 2001 -> Mexico -> Old Town Mazatlan

Old Town Mazatlan is a nice place, but a bit reminiscent of Morecambe... Kind of run down and looking a bit like someone came along and stole all of their tourist trade. Which is exactly what happened. The Hotel El Cid Mega Resort, and all the surrounding hotels are miles away and have the tourists all tied up there. Its a long long walk into town (we did half of it, gave in and flagged a taxi - which are very fancy golf cart style open things. They have no safety rules in Mexico).

Anyway - we got into Mazatlan, looking suspiciously like tourists, and found this - which is the Coca-Cola Christmas Tree outside the Catholic Cathedral. Strange but true.

This is the inside of the Cathedral - staggeringly beautiful...
Anyway - we walked to the sea, and eventually collapsed at a bar. It was damn hot, and we'd walked miles into Mazatlan. We ditched our usual British "bring us warm beer in a warm glass" approach, and asked for the biggest, coldest beer they could manage. Here's Ann with her's...

Pelicans!
They have that kind of thing just hanging around in Mazatlan you know...
